Lansing, MI - It's time to bring your dog to the park! Monday, July 11, marks the second annual Dog Days of Summer promotion, where fans are encouraged to bring their canine companions to the ballpark. The Lansing Lugnuts face off against the Kane County Cougars at 7:05 and doggie festivities begin shortly after gates open at 5:50.
There will be a pre-game pooch parade on field at 6:30 with participants lining up at 6:15 in the right field area. Fans who bring their dogs to the game will also be encouraged to have them dressed in their best gear. There will be several local dog rescue shelters with information about their organizations at the even, as well as a chance for all attendees at the game to meet and adopt dogs from the Capital Area Humane Society and Ingham County Animal Shelter. The Capital Area Humane Society and Ingham County Animal Shelter will be bringing their mobile adoption vehicles to the event and offering anyone who is interested a chance to meet and qualify to adopt dogs during the game on Monday. And for those fans without a canine companion to bring to the ballpark, the Lugnuts have hired K-9s in Flight to entertain the fans between innings. K-9s in Flight are a national Frisbee dog act that have appeared on shows like David Letterman and featured on several national television programs.
Tickets for the event are $6.50 each and can be purchased at on-line at lansinglugnuts.com, by telephone at 485-4500 x 251 or in person at the Lugnuts box office. There will be one canine companion admitted per person, per ticket purchased on the day of the event and all dogs must be restrained on a leash at all times and remain in the designated areas.
