Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release
FOX CITIES STADIUM -- Three Wisconsin Timber Rattler relief pitchers worked seven scoreless innings in the Rattlers come-from-behind 5-3 win over the Beloit Snappers Wednesday. Steve Grasley, Justin Jordan, and Donny Langdon combined to keep the Rattlers stay in the game after starting pitcher Jason Snyder left after the second inning. Matt Tuiasosopo homered and scored three runs, while Brandon Green and Brent Johnson had three hits a piece for the Rattler offense.
The first four batters of the game reached for the Snappers and three of them scored. Deacon Burns hit a ground rule double to drive in the first run. David Winfree doubled in the next two runs for the early 3-0 lead for Beloit.
Wisconsin (45-39 overall, 6-8 second half) chipped away with single runs in the first and second innings off Beloit starter Anthony Swarzak. An RBI ground out by Mike Wilson plated the run in the first inning and a throwing error by Beloit catcher Korey Feiner allowed the second inning run to score.
Grasley cam on to start the third and kept the Snappers off the scoreboard. He allowed one hit and struck out two over four innings and is now 5-0 on the season.
The Rattlers got to Swarzak again in the fourth inning and went in front. Swarzak hit Tuiasosopo to lead off the inning. Omar Falcon doubled off the left field wall to send Tuiasosopo home with the tying run. Johnson followed with an RBI double to put the Rattlers in front for the first time in the game.
Tuiasosopo put the Rattlers up 5-3 with a home run to left to start the bottom of the sixth.
Jordan worked a scoreless seventh and got the first two outs of the eighth before turning things over to Langdon. The lefty walked the first batter he faced in the eighth, but got an inning ending force out. Then, in the ninth, Langdon allowed a two out double, but got pinch hitter Trevor Plouffe to fly out to right for the final out and his first save as a Timber Rattler.
The final game of the series is Thursday night. Casey Abrams (4-6, 5.77ERA) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. Jay Rainville (6-2, 3.96ERA) is the scheduled starter for the Snappers. Game time is 7:05pm.
