South Bend, IN - South Bend Silver Hawks Koley Kolberg overpowered Midwest League hitters in his two starts last week, going 2-0 while allowing just two earned runs on 10 hits in 14 innings and striking out 18. Kolberg's June 28 start against Fort Wayne was the best of his young career, shutting out the Wizards on five hits through eight innings while whiffing 10. In his next outing, the 22-year-old right-hander held a high-powered Quad Cities offense to three runs -- two earned -- on five hits and two walks while fanning eight. On the season, Kolberg is 4-3 with a 3.70 ERA in nine starts since being called up from extended Spring Training.
The Silver Hawks continue their four game road trip to Burlington before returning to The Cove Friday night top open a four game homestand and seven game series against the Fort Wayne Wizards.
