Utah Grizzlies News Release

The Grizzlies enter the week with a 31-25-4-2 record and in the logjam of the Western Conference playoff race. Spots three-six are separated by four points entering the week. Utah has won two of their last three games and three of their last five contests.

Playoffs

The Grizzlies clinched their fourth-straight playoff berth and fifth in the last six years on Sunday. It is the earliest Utah has clinched a playoff spot since 2006, when they locked up a spot on March 11. Sunday was also a day earlier than in 2008, when they clinched a trip to the post-season in Las Vegas.

Road Trip

Utah will play six of their next seven games on the road and seven of ten away from home to finish the year. The Grizzlies will also complete a stretch of five-straight road games in Victoria that started February 24 this week.

Deeth Keeps Rolling

Rookie Kevin Deeth has recorded multiple-points in four of the last seven games and still leads Utah in scoring with 12 goals and 38 assists for 50 points.

Newcomer Helps Immediately

Paul McIlveen had one goal and two assists as Utah took two of three games from Stockton to finish the weekend. He was acquired from Cincinnati to complete the Dylan Hunter trade February 28. McIlveen has six goals and five assists in his last 12 games overall.

Happy Birthday

The Grizzlies have four members of the organization celebrating birthdays this week. Goaltender Shane Connelly turns 24 Wednesday, Hugo Carpentier 23 Thursday and Head Athletic Trainer Mike Plandowski turns 34 on Saturday. Recalled forward David Marshall turned 26 on Monday.

TGIF

Player/Assistant Coach Brent Gauvreau will be activated off of 21-day IR and leading goal scorer Simon Ferguson is expected to rejoin the Grizzlies lineup in time for action Friday.
