Elmira's Cousineau Named Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J.- Marco Cousineau of the Elmira Jackals is the Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for March 7-13.

The 21 year old was 2-0-1 with a 1.30 goals-against average and a .961 save percentage in three appearances last week for the Jackals, who have gone 7-1-2 in their last 10 games to improve to 29-24-9 on the season.

Cousineau made 33 saves in a 3-2 win at South ‚¬Ë†Carolina on Tuesday and stopped 30 shots in a 2-1 victory against Gwinnett on ‚¬Ë†Friday. He ended the week with 36 saves in a 2-1 shootout loss against the Gladiators on ‚¬Ë†Saturday.

The St. Lazare, Quebec native has appeared in 38 games for the Jackals this season posting a 19-12-5 record, a 3.08 goals-against average and a .901 save percentage.

A third-round selection (83rd overall) of the Anaheim Ducks in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Cousineau appeared in 176 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League games with Baie-Comeau, Drummondville, Prince Edward Island and Saint John from 2006-2010 posting a record of 84-67-12 with nine shutouts, a 3.08 goals-against average and a save percentage of .898. He won the Hap Emms Trophy as the top goaltender at the 2009 Memorial Cup.

Runners Up: Gerald Coleman, ‚¬Ë†Alaska (2-0-0, 1.00 GAA, .962 save pct.), Ryan Nie, Kalamazoo (2-0-0, 1.50 GAA, .939 save pct.) and Jeff Lerg, Trenton (2-0-0, 1.85 GAA, .937 save pct.).
