Salmon Kings Assigned Forward Tommy Maxwell

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that they have been assigned forward Tommy Maxwell from Manitoba of the American Hockey League (AHL).

The 6-2, 200 lb forward joins the Salmon Kings after playing the last three seasons with the Moose. In 142 career games in Manitoba, Maxwell has scored 20 points (7g-13a) and served 388 minutes in penalties. He has also appeared in three career Calder Cup Playoff contests with the Moose where he has recorded no points or penalty minutes. His other nine games of AHL experience came during the 2007-08 season with the Hershey Bears where he tallied an assist to go along with 44 penalty minutes.

The Spokane, WA native also has played in 87 career ECHL games between the Phoenix Roadrunners and South Carolina Stingrays. In his time in the ECHL, Maxwell has amassed 10 goals and 15 assists for 25 points with 324 penalty minutes.

The 25-year-old forward spent a four-year junior career (2002-03 thru 2005-06) in the Western Hockey League (WHL) prior to turning professional with the Medicine Hat Tigers. Maxwell dressed for 244 career games in Medicine Hat, netting 73 points (33g-40a) to match 466 minutes in penalties. The forward has also seen action in 57 career WHL Playoff games scoring one goal and seven assists for eight points with 63 penalty minutes. During the 2003-04 season, Maxwell helped lead the Tigers to the WHL Championship and a berth in the 2004 Memorial Cup tournament.
