New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
MANCHESTER, N.H. - Celebrating the fourth annual Play Ball for CHaD Night, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats and WMUR teamed up to raise a record amount on Thursday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. Through ticket sales, a 50/50 raffle, and other donations, $13,166 was generated for the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock. That total surpasses last year's amount of more than $8,500, which had been a high for the annual one-night event.
"It's nights like this that remind us all of the impact CHaD has in our community," said Fisher Cats President Rick Brenner. "Starting with the great promotion by WMUR, and the tremendous support from fans, we were able to come together to support a great cause and recognize CHaD for the work it does for our families, friends, and neighbors. It's great to be a part of a fundraising effort that will help CHaD continue to positively impact the lives of so many people."
Play Ball for CHaD raises money through ticket sales and a 50/50 raffle held during the game. With better than $13,000 raised during this year's event, the four-year total of Play Ball for CHaD Night has now surpassed $31,000 since the 2011 season.
Fans didn't have to go far to see the real-life examples of CHaD's work. Before the game, a group of CHaD Kids took batting practice on the field with WMUR sports director Jamie Staton, as well as Fisher Cats manager Bobby Meacham, pitching coach Jim Czajkowski, and several players.
WMUR also had day-long coverage of the event beginning with live footage of the field as the sun rose for their 5 AM newscast. They continued live drops for news and sports through noon and evening forecasts leading up to the game's first pitch.
The Fisher Cats will continue their homestand on Friday night with a doubleheader against the Reading Fightin Phils at 6:05. The doubleheader will feature two seven-inning games with one ticket covering both games of the twin bill. The games will feature a post-game Atlas Fireworks Show. Tickets are available by visiting www.nhfishercats.com, stopping by the Fisher Cats ticket office, or by calling (603) 641-2005.
