Richmond Flying Squirrels News Release
Richmond, VA - The Richmond Flying Squirrels, Double-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, in conjunction with the Eastern League of Professional Baseball Clubs, have announced their 2015 Eastern League schedule. The schedule consists of 142 games, 71 of which will be played at The Diamond in Richmond. The Squirrels will open the 2015 season at home, beginning with 2015 Opening Night at The Diamond against the Bowie Baysox (Baltimore Orioles) on Thursday, April 9th, 2015.
For the sixth consecutive season, the Squirrels will have the honor of hosting a game on Independence Day at The Diamond. The opponent on July 4th will be the Akron RubberDucks (Cleveland Indians). The Squirrels will welcome the RubberDucks and Harrisburg Senators (Washington Nationals) for a home stand that will run from July 4th - July 9th.
The Baysox will once again be the most commonly-played opponent for the Squirrels in 2015 as the Western Division rivals will meet 22 times. The Squirrels will match up 20 times apiece with the Altoona Curve (Pittsburgh Pirates) and Senators. The Portland Sea Dogs (Boston Red Sox) will visit The Diamond from June 9th - 11th, while the Trenton Thunder (New York Yankees) will appear in Richmond June 23rd - 26th.
"It's always exciting to look at the new schedule and start to imagine the potential promotional events and fan experiences we can match with certain dates," said Flying Squirrels' Vice President/COO Todd "Parney" Parnell. "Most importantly though, it's a great to get the framework for our sixth season, which as always we will strive to make the best in franchise history."
The Squirrels will announce game times (both home and road) at a later date. Season-ticket packages, mini-plans, individual and group ticket options will be available for the 2015 season.
The Squirrels return to The Diamond on Tuesday, August 5th, 2014 to begin a six-game home stand against the Binghamton Mets (New York Mets) and Portland SeaDogs (Boston Red Sox). Tickets are available and can be purchased by visiting SquirrelsBaseball.com or calling (804) 359-FUNN (3866).
