Pittsburgh Assigns Hartzell to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The Pittsburgh Penguins have assigned goaltender Eric Hartzell to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton from the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL), it was announced today.

In two appearances this season for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Hartzell has gone 2-0-0 with a 2.92 goals against average and a .882 save percentage. The 25-year-old second-year pro has also compiled a record of 10-7-0 for the Nailers, while recording a 2.65 GAA, a .914 save percentage and one shutout.

Hartzell split the 2013-14 season between Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and Wheeling. He went 10-8-1 over 25 games with the Penguins, registering a 2.48 GAA a .901 save percentage, three shutouts and earning AHL Goaltender of the Month honors for January. In 14 contests for Wheeling, Hartzell posted a record of 8-5-1 with a 3.13 GAA, a .900 save percentage and one shutout.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton is back at Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza on Wednesday, Jan. 21 when they battle the St. John's IceCaps at 7:05 p.m.
