CURVE, Pa- Pirates' lefty Zach Duke, who was a key member of the Curve's Eastern League 2004 championship run will rehab an elbow injury at Blair County Ballpark on Monday, July 5 at 7:00 p.m. vs. Binghamton. Duke, who has been on the disabled list since June 23 with a left elbow flexor pronator strain, is expected to start the homestand opener on Monday against the Binghamton Mets at 7 p.m.

The Texas-born Duke tossed 46 pitches in a side session on Friday and said that he felt no discomfort after the session. If everything goes according to plan, Duke is expected to rejoin the Pirates after the All-Star Break.

In 2004, Duke went 5-1 with a 1.58 ERA in nine starts for the Altoona Curve. He struck out 36 batters compared to just 10 walks in 51.1 innings pitched that season with Altoona. This season with the Pirates, Duke is 3-8 with a 5.49 ERA in 14 starts.

He is the third Pirate to make a rehab stint with the Curve this season, joining fellow pitchers Ross Ohlendorf and Jack Taschner, who both rehabbed with the Curve earlier this season. Ohlendorf made a rehab start in Richmond for the Curve on May 5 while Taschner made two relief outings at BCB (May 29 and May 31) during his rehab assignment.
