Altoona Curve News Release

CURVE, Pa. - The first-place Altoona Curve returns home on Monday, July 5 to start its longest homestand of the season with four games against the Binghamton Mets (AA - New York Mets) and the Richmond Flying Squirrels (AA - San Francisco Giants). The eight-game homestand will run through Monday, July 12 and feature three fireworks shows, a giveaway, a jersey auction, a night filled with bad ideas and a Super Splash Day.

It all begins with a 7 p.m. game on Monday that will be followed by a fireworks show presented by the Pennsylvania Lottery. Monday night's game is also the Altoona First Savings Bank "First Game of the Month" and a Mirror Monday presented by the Altoona Mirror.

Tuesday night's 7 p.m. contest against the B-Mets is a Two-for-Tuesday presented by Atlantic Broadband and KRAFT Singles. Fans can receive two-for-one offers on tickets, hot dogs and popcorn during the game.

On Wednesday at 7 p.m., the Curve will pay tribute to some of the ideas that really did not go over so well with Bad Idea Night on a Wacky Wednesday. Any bad idea is fair game and maybe if we have a bunch of bad ideas it will make a good one.

The first 2,000 fans through the gates on Thursday will receive a Pedro Alvarez Logo Ball Giveaway courtesy of Sanitary Maintenance. The logo ball is the first in a series of three with the other two slated to be given away later this season: Andrew McCutchen (July 22) and Brad Lincoln (Aug. 5). Thursday night's 7 p.m. game is also a Weis Buy Thursday, a Thirsty Thursday with Miller Lite 16 oz. drafts and 22 oz. sodas on special, and Bedford Community Night.

Richmond comes to town to open the four-game series beginning on Friday night at 7 p.m. and the game will be followed by the second fireworks show of the homestand. It's Cambria County Night presented by Conemaugh Health System and kids can run the bases after the game.

Saturday night will be a special night in Curve, PA as the team will wear Kelly green jerseys in honor of former Curve employee Kerri McEachern, who lost her battle with a rare form of aggressive cancer in May 2009. Fans will be able to bid on the shamrock-adorned jerseys, as well as game-used pink bats from earlier this year, during the silent auction that will take place during Saturday night's game. Proceeds from the auction will benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

The 7 p.m. game on Saturday is also the first Saturday of the month which means it's another Community Collection Day at BCB. Fans are asked to bring new or gently worn sports equipment and clothing to the ballpark to be donated to the Roberto's Kids Foundation. Kids will run the bases after the game.

An action-packed weekend continues on Sunday at 6 p.m. with Sunday Night Fireworks, a mascot birthday party and a Princess and Pirates Pregame Party. Before the game, kids can take part in a Princess and Pirates party to benefit the Children's Miracle Network where they can take part in activities that include princess hairdos, a treasure hunt, nail painting and more. Tickets to participate in the party are $8, which includes admission into the game, and can be purchased through CMN.

During the game, we'll have a birthday party for our pals Steamer, Diesel Dawg and Al Tuna to celebrate their birthdays. After the game, kids can run the bases.

A special 12 p.m. start time is scheduled for Monday, July 12 because it will be Super Splash Day presented by the Altoona City Authority. We'll have a dunk tank, a fire hose and a plethora of water balloons ready to cool off the fans on a beautiful summer day at BCB. Monday will also be a Mirror Monday presented by the Altoona Mirror.
