Altoona Curve News Release

CURVE, Pa. - The Curve return home to Curve, Pa. from their first post-All-Star Break road trip for a packed weekend with the Erie SeaWolves (Detroit Tigers) in town from Thursday, July 19th through Sunday, July 22nd. The weekend series with Erie features a scheduled start by top Pirates' prospect Gerrit Cole, a host of giveaways, a Friday night doubleheader, Sunday postgame fireworks, and much more.

The Curve host the SeaWolves for the final time in the 2012 regular season beginning on Thursday night with top Pirates' prospect and 2011 first overall pick Gerrit Cole scheduled to pitch for Altoona. Also Thursday, it's the third installment of the 2012 Summer Cruise Series presented by Nittany Travel. Just like a year ago, fans will collect four items, one each from the four different Summer Cruise Series Nights - themed after Tom Cruise films of the 1990s - and bring them back to the final game of the season for a chance to win one (1) seven-day cruise for two to the Caribbean thanks to Nittany Travel. This week's movie theme is Days of Thunder with the first 500 fans ages 21 and over to enter the ballpark receiving a toy stock car. Thursday's 7 p.m. opener is also a Thirsty Thursday with specially priced 16 oz. draft beers and half-priced regular sodas.

Friday, the Curve and 'Wolves duel in a scheduled doubleheader with the twinbill kicking off at 6 p.m. Prior to the two seven-inning contests, the first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a Gerrit Cole Fireball presented by Unifirst, showing off the heat from the rocket right arm of the Altoona starting pitcher and the Pirates' top overall prospect. In addition, the first 100 fans through the gates will also receive a game-used, Florida State League baseball that may have been pitched by Cole in his action with the Bradenton Marauders earlier this season.

Prior to Saturday's game, the Curve will be hosting a yard sale at the ballpark benefitting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Those wishing to take part in the sale can register for two adjoining spaces in the ballpark parking lot with a $10 donation to St. Jude. Beginning at 6 a.m., participants can park their cars and set up their goods to be sold from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Saturday night, the campaign for the seat of Curve, Pa. Commander of Mischief continues with the third edition of the team's Mascot Campaign Button Set Giveaway series. This week, it's Steamer's turn to make his pitch to the residents of Curve, Pa., and his election button will be given to the first 1,000 fans through the Peoples Natural Gas Field gates. Saturday is a Curve, Pa. Blue Out Saturday with Curve players donning special edition blue jerseys in support of child abuse awareness and Prevent Child Abuse Pennsylvania. The third day of this weekend series is also a Kids Club Night presented by Galliker's Dairy with Kids Club members invited to wear their favorite Curve gear to support their team. It's also a special-edition T.G.I. Friday's Mug Club Night. Following the 7 p.m. game, 250 lucky fans (21+) will take home a T.G.I. Friday's Mug Club Mug as they depart the ballpark. Two Curve players will head to the T.G.I. Friday's on Plank Rd. following the game for a one hour meet-and-greet session.

The series concludes on Sunday evening with a 6 p.m. finale. The Curve will once more don special tops for the last game of the set, this time sporting Captain America jerseys presented by Reliable Towing Tire and Auto Center to be auctioned off during the game benefitting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The series finale with the SeaWolves will be followed by the Curve's traditional Sunday Night Fireworks.

As always, kids will be able to run the bases after each of the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night contests.
