LAST GAME: Reliever Robert Carson balked in the winning run in the top of the ninth inning and the Trenton Thunder defeated the Binghamton Mets in comeback fashion, 5-4, last night at NYSEG Stadium. The B-Mets failed to hold two separate leads in a game that saw three lead changes. With the game tied, Carson committed his first balk of the season, allowing Yadil Mujica to score the go-ahead run from third. The Thunder scored all five runs in their final four innings after being kept off the board by Greg Peavey in the first five. Peavey exited in the seventh after allowing three runs on eight hits. Binghamton took the lead back in the seventh with three runs, highlighted by a two-run double by Wilfredo Tovar. Armando Rodriguezgave up a solo homer to Luke Murton that tied the game at four in the eighth. Kelvin Perez tossed 2.2 shutout innings to collect his fifth win.

STARTING PITCHING MATCHUP: RHP Cory Mazzoni (3-2, 3.48) makes his sixth start of the season and first against the Trenton Thunder. Mazzoni comes off a seven-inning, complete game shutout against the Erie SeaWolves on July 13. In the opener of a doubleheader, the righty allowed just four hits and struck out one to earn his second straight win. It was Mazzoni's second complete game as a B-Met, with the first coming in his Double-A debut on June 20. Selected in the 2nd round of the 2011 draft out of North Carolina State, Mazzoni started the season with the St. Lucie Mets (High-A), going 5-1 with a 3.25 ERA in 12 starts in the Florida State League.

LHP Vidal Nuno (4-2, 1.57) makes his eleventh start of the year with the Thunder and first against the B-Mets. Nuno took the loss in his last start against the New Britain Rock Cats on July 13, ending a four-game winning streak. He allowed three runs on eight hits and struck out four over 5.2 innings. Nuno pitched for two seasons in the Indians system after being selected in the 48th round of the 2009 draft out of Baker University (KS) by Cleveland. He started 2011 with the Washington Wild Things of the Frontier League before signing a minor league contract with the New York Yankees in June 2011.

SLIPPERY LEADS: In the first two games of this series, the B-Mets have lost all four leads they have held. Last night was their fifth loss this season when leading after seven innings.

TOVAR DELIVERS: B-Mets shortstop Wilfredo Tovar tied the game in the seventh inning with a two-run double last night. He is hitting .500 (10-for-20) with runners in scoring position with three doubles, a triple and 12 RBI.

SLIPPING BACK IN THE DIVISION: Last night's loss pushed the B-Mets, back to 11.0 games behind the Trenton Thunder in the Eastern Division, their largest deficit of the season. They have sat in fourth place since May 2.

ON THE BRIGHT SIDE: B-Mets starter Greg Peavey's winless streak reached nine games with his no-decision last night. However, he tossed a quality start for the first time since he allowed one run over seven innings against the Harrisburg Senators on May 6, a span of ten starts.

DYKSTRA DOING IT: B-Mets first baseman Allan Dykstra has collected seven hits while hitting safely in his last three games, raising his average 60 percentage points to .314. He has collected at least one hit in 11 of his 14 games since returning to the B-Mets after a 2.5 month stint away with a fractured left forearm. He is hitting .354 (17-for-48) since coming back.

SERIES STREAK SNAPPED: Last night's loss secured the series defeat for the B-Mets. They had won three consecutive series leading up to their three-game tilt against the Thunder.

NEXT GAME PREVIEW: The B-Mets hit the pavement for a week-long roadtrip that brings them to Bowie, Maryland for four games before a three-game stop in New Britain, Connecticut. The set against the Baysox starts tomorrow night at 6:35 PM. LHP Mark Cohoon takes the mound against LHP Rick Zagone.
