Pirates Face Devils in Lone Trip to Albany

Albany, NY - The Portland Pirates travel to Albany for their only trip to the Times Union Center this season to face the Devils tonight. Puck drop is set for 7 PM from the Glens Falls Civic Center. The Pirates currently sit in 5th place in the Eastern Conference with 77 points, while the Devils occupy the 11th spot in the Eastern Conference with 67 points. Portland is coming off a 6-3 victory over the Manchester Monarchs on Friday night at the Cumberland County Civic Center in Portland. Portland jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, but the Monarchs would come back to take a 3-2 lead. However, the Pirates scored 4 unanswered goals, including 3 in the third period, to take the victory. Mark Visentin stopped 42 shots for Portland, and both Nick Johnson and Chris Conner had a 3 point night for the Pirates. 10 different Pirates tallied points in the contest, which allowed the Pirates to take a 13-12 point advantage over Manchester for the first ever VIP Cup, presented by VIP Parts, Tires & Service.

Albany is coming off a 5-3 victory over the Hershey Bears at home on Friday night. Jay Leach had 2 goals for the Devils, with 9 different Devils tallying points. Keith Kinkaid faced 31 shots, stopping 28 for the victory.

In their only other meeting this season, Portland shut out Albany 2-0 at the Cumberland County Civic Center on February 2nd. Mark Visentin stopped all 22 shots he saw for his second shutout of the season, and Chris Conner and Ethan Werek scored for the Pirates. Jeff Frazee made 27 saves for the Devils in the loss.
