Providence Bruins News Release
Hershey, PA -- The Providence Bruins fell to the Hershey Bears 3-2 this evening at the Giant Center. Alexander Fallstrom scored his first professional goal and Jamie Tardif scored his 28th of the season in the loss. Niklas Svedberg made 23 saves as the Bruins fell to 41-21-0-5.
In their first of two meetings in the 2012-13 regular season, the two teams', with bears emblazoned on their chests, came out hungry for a win. It took six games, but Fallstrom found the back of the net at 19:20 for his first professional goal. Alexander Khokholachev dangled through Hershey's defense and found Fallstrom cutting through the slot. Fallstrom connected on the one-timer and beat Grubauer to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead going into the first intermission.
Providence continued to control much of the play in the second. They took a 2-0 lead at 10:01 on the power play. Off a beautiful set up where every Bruin contributed, Max Sauvé fed Tardif in front for his 28th goal of the season and 13th on the power play. Zach Trotman also assisted on the play. Nearly three minutes later, Hershey's Boyd Kane cut the lead in half on the power play.
It was all Hershey in the third period as they scored two unanswered goals to take the lead. Nicolas Deschamps scored his 9th of the season to tie it up at 8:35 of the third and four minutes later, Ryan Potulny scored what would be the game-winner. Despite a late surge from the Bruins, they couldn't connect in front of Grubauer and fell 3-2.
The Bruins return to The Dunk on Friday, April 12 versus the Hershey Bears. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. for Kids T-Shirt Night. The first 2,000 kids 12&under will receive a free t-shirt courtesy of Graphic Ink.
