Pilittere Placed On Disabled List Retroactive To August 25th

(Trenton, NJ)- The Trenton Thunder, Class AA Affiliate of the N.Y. Yankees, announced today that C P.J. Pilittere has been placed on the Disabled List retroactive to August 25th with a bruised right index finger. Pilittere was hit by a pitch on his finger during Friday Night's game against Binghamton. C Jason Brown has been activated from the Disabled List to take Pilittere's spot on the roster.
Piliterre has a .257 BA in 98 games for the Thunder with two home runs and 32 RBI. He has compiled a .282 BA in 51 home games at Waterfront Park this season. Last season, Piliterre hit .302 in 87 games for the Tampa Yankees with five home runs and 38 RBI. He was originally drafted by the Yankees in 13th round of the 2004 draft from Cal. State Fullerton University. He was a captain on the 2004 squad that won the College World Series.
Brown has a .211 BA in 12 games with one RBI this season for Trenton. On April 7th, he went 3-for-3 with two doubles and two runs against the Bowie Baysox. Brown has had separate stints on the Disabled List this season with a sore left knee and a separated shoulder. Last season for the Thunder, he compiled a .196 BA with four home runs and 18 RBI. Brown also played in 51 games for Trenton during the 2005 season. He had previous Eastern League experience with the Harrisburg Senators from 2002-2004.
Brown was originally signed by the L.A. Dodgers as a non-drafted FA on May 26th, 1997. He played collegiate baseball at the University of Southern California and was part of two Pac-10 championship teams.
Trenton begins a six-game series tonight in Portland, ME against the Portland Sea Dogs, the Class AA Affiliate of the Boston Red Sox Game time is 7:00 p.m. RHP Daniel McCutchen (3-1, 1.86) starts for Trenton against Portland LHP Jon Lester (0-0, 0.00). The Thunder return to Waterfront Park on September 5th to begin the Eastern League Playoffs against either Portland or New Hampshire (Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays).
