
Eastern League Announces Weekly Award Winners

PORTLAND, ME - The Eastern League is pleased to announce the Major League Baseball Advanced Media selections for the Eastern League Pitcher and Player of the Week for the week ending August 26th:
New Hampshire Fisher Cats outfielder Dustin Majewski has been named the Eastern League's Player of the Week for the week ending August 26th. The 5'11", 215 lb. slugger had an outstanding week for the Fisher Cats, batting .429 (12-for-28) with one double, one triple, three home runs, six RBI, five runs scored, three walks and a .857 slugging percentage while leading New Hampshire to a 5-2 record in seven games. Majewski, who hit 13 homers in 65 games with the Fisher Cats last season, reached base in each of the seven games he played in last week and had five multiple hit games. The 26-year old finished the week hitting home runs in three consecutive games, including back to back home runs to lead off the bottom of the first inning on Saturday and Sunday. Dustin was originally drafted by Oakland in the third round of the 2003 draft and was acquired by the Toronto Blue Jays in a trade with the Athletics on December 8, 2005.

Carlos Carrasco, a right-handed starting pitcher for the Reading Phillies, is the Eastern League's Pitcher of the Week for the week ending August 26th. The 20-year old started two games for the R-Phils last week and went 2-0 with 10 strikeouts and a 0.69 ERA. Carrasco, a native of Barquisimeto, Venezuela, threw a rain-shortened no-hitter against Altoona in his first start of the week on Tuesday night at FirstEnergy Stadium, striking out eight batters and walking two in six innings of work. The 6'3", 180 lb. hurler also got the win in his second start of the week on Sunday against Akron after giving up one run on six hits and four walks while recording a pair of strikeouts in seven innings of work in Reading's final home game of the year. Carlos, who entered the season ranked by Baseball America as the top prospect in the Phillies organization, was signed by the Philadelphia Phillies as a non-drafted free agent on November 25, 2003.
