Dustin Majewski Named Eastern League Player of Week

Manchester, NH- New Hampshire Fisher Cats outfielder Dustin Majewski has been named the Eastern League Player of the Week for the week ending August 26th. Majewski, 26, batted .429 (12-for-28) with one double, one triple, three home runs, six RBI, five runs scored, three walks and a .857 slugging percentage while leading New Hampshire to a 5-2 record in seven games.

Majewski reached base in each of the seven games he played in last week and had five multiple-hit games. The 5'11'', 215-pound left fielder finished the week hitting home runs in three consecutive games, including lead-off homers in the bottom of the first inning on Saturday and Sunday in victories over Portland. He can tie his own franchise record by homering in a fourth straight game tonight when the Fisher Cats visit the Connecticut Defenders at 7:05pm.

Majewski is batting .246 with 11 home runs and 54 RBI in a team-leading 121 games. He also leads the club with 71 walks, a single-season franchise record. Majewski was originally drafted by Oakland in the third round of the 2003 draft out of the University of Texas. He was acquired by the Toronto Blue Jays in a trade with the Athletics on December 8, 2005.

This marks the second consecutive week a Fisher Cat has won the Eastern League Player of the Week award. Outfielder David Smith earned the honor for the week ending August 19.

The Fisher Cats carry a one-game lead over the Portland Sea Dogs for the Northern Division's final playoff spot into tonight's 7:05pm game vs the Connecticut Defenders at Dodd Stadium.
