Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (53-67) rallied for four runs in the ninth but dropped a 7-6 heartbreaker in 10 innings to the Pawtucket Red Sox (45-75) on Friday night at Coca-Cola Park.

The win snaps an 11-game losing streak for the PawSox.

Jonathan Roof's RBI double in the top of the tenth proved to be the difference in the game for Pawtucket. Roof was just four for his last 35 before the double into the right centerfield gap off of Pigs RHP Seth Rosin (1.0 IP, 2 H, R, ER, K). Rosin was tagged with the loss and drops to 4-2 on the year.

RHP Jorge Marban (1.2 IP, 2 BB, 2 K) earned the win for Pawtucket in his team debut.

The PawSox took a 1-0 lead with a run in the second as Marco Hernandez led off with a double and later scored on Humberto Quintero's RBI single.

Kelly Dugan's solo shot in the home half of the same frame tied things at one apiece for the Pigs. The home run was Dugan's first of his Triple-A career.

Quintero gave Pawtucket a 2-1 lead with a solo shot off of Pigs starter Alec Asher in the top of the fourth. It was Quintero's sixth home run of the season.

With a runner at first and nobody out in the fifth, Allen Craig reached on a fielder's choice and throwing error by d'Arnaud at shortstop allowed Carlos Rivero to score all the way from first and extend the Red Sox lead to 3-1.

Asher (n/d) allowed three runs (two earned) on 10 hits to go along with a walk and four strikeouts in six innings of work.

The IronPigs cut the lead to 3-2 with a run in the eighth as Jordan Danks (2-4, 2B, 2 RBI, SB, R) reached via a one-out single, moved to third on a double and scored on Tyler Henson's RBI groundout.

Pawtucket starter Zeke Spruill (n/d) gave up two runs on five hits while fanning eight over 8.0 IP.

Sandy Leon's three-run shot in the top of the ninth off of RHP Nefi Ogando (1.1 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 3 ER, BB, K) opened up a 6-2 lead for the visitors. It was Leon's first home run of the year for Pawtucket.

The afore-mentioned four-run ninth tied things at six apiece for the Pigs as Dugan drove home a run with an RBI fielder's choice, Tommy Joseph came through with an RBI double and Danks' two-run double tied the game. All four runs were charged to RHP Noe Ramirez (0.1 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 3 ER, BB).

RHP Colton Murray (1.2 IP, H, K) had a scoreless outing in relief for manager Dave Brundage's squad.

The series continues with a day-night doubleheader on Saturday at Coca-Cola Park. First pitch of game one is set for 12:05 p.m. as RHP Jerad Eickhoff (2-0, 0.64) gets the start for the Pigs against PawSox RHP Matt Barnes (1-1, 4.17). In game two at 6:35 p.m., RHP Severino Gonzalez (1-5, 4.66) makes his return from the DL for the IronPigs against LHP Rich Hill (2-2, 2.91 with Syracuse).
