Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs will try to snap a three-game skid when they open a four-game set with the Pawtucket Red Sox on Friday night at Coca-Cola Park. First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m. The Pigs sit in fourth place in the North Division at 53-66 on the year after getting swept in a three-game set by Syracuse. Pawtucket is at 44-75 on the season and has dropped 11 in a row.

RHP Alec Asher (1-0, 2.77) takes the mound for the IronPigs in the series opener. The right-hander allowed just three hits while walking and fanning a pair over seven shutout innings on Saturday at Columbus. Thus far over his first two starts with Lehigh Valley, righties are just 4-26 (1.54) against Asher who was acquired by the Phillies as part of the Cole Hamels trade on July 31.

RHP Zeke Spruill (4-9, 4.48) will get the ball for manager Kevin Boles' squad on Friday. Spruill was tagged with the loss on Sunday at Syracuse when he gave up three runs on eight hits to go along with a walk and five strikeouts in seven innings of work. Over his last 5 GS, the Chesapeake, Va. native is 0-5 with a 3.00 ERA. Spruill will be making his fourth appearance and first start of the year against the Pigs. To date, the right-hander has not allowed an earned run over 4.2 IP against the IronPigs.

After notching a pair of hits on Thursday, Pigs INF Chase d'Arnaud has hit safely in 14 of his last 15 games. In that time, d'Arnaud is hitting .371-1-4 with two doubles, a triple, seven stolen bases and 14 runs scored.

There will be Friday Night Fireworks presented by Def-Con 1 Chow Hall and Armory following the game. The first 2,000 fans 17 and under will also receive a Russ Canzler Growth Chart sponsored by Capital BlueCross.
