LOUISVILLE, Ky- The Louisville Bats (58-63) are unable to answer back Friday night and extend their losing streak to five games with a loss to the Norfolk Tides (69-50), 3-2, at Louisville Slugger Field.

In the seventh, the Tides second baseman Rey Navarro hit a solo homer to break the tie and eventually the win.

Lefty Brandon Finnegan started on the mound making his fourth appearance for the Bats. He went five innings, gave up two hits, walked two, and struck out one. Righty Layne Somsen (L, 0-1, 2.20) pitched two innings for the Bats and took the loss. He gave up four hits, three runs, two earned, walked one, struck out two, and gave up one homerun.

Starting on the mound for the Tides was righty Terry Doyle (W, 2-1, 3.54). He went seven innings, allowed two runs, both earned, walked two, struck out one, and gave up one homerun.

Third baseman Hernan Iribarren had an RBI double in the second to give the Bats their first run. Followed in the fourth, first baseman Adam Duvall hit his fourth homer with the Bats on UofL Alumni night and took the MiLB-lead with 30th overall this season.

In the sixth, right fielder Dariel Alvarez had an RBI single and later scored from a fielding error by shortstop Kristopher Negron to tie the ballgame.

Saturday the Bats continue their series with the Tides in game two at 6:05 at Louisville Slugger Field. Projected on the bump for the Bats is righty Donovan Hand (1-5, 4.91) and for the Tides lefty Chris Jones (7-6, 3.05).
