The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (2-5) rallied in the ninth, but fell short in a 6-5 loss to the Pawtucket Red Sox (4-5) on Friday night at Coca-Cola Park.

With runners at first and second and two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Pawtucket RHP Jorge Marban fanned Angelys Nina to end the game. The Pigs had trailed 6-3, but were able to push across a pair of runs against RHP Kyle Martin (0.2 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER) via a RBI fielder's choice from Ryan Jackson and an RBI single from David Lough in the inning.

Marban (0.1 IP, K) notched his first save of the season.

The PawSox took an early 1-0 lead with a run in the first as Deven Marrero led off with a single and scored from first on Rusney Castillo's RBI double on a very close play at the plate.

In the top of the third, Marrero started the inning with a double, advanced to third on a sac fly and scored on Castillo's RBI groundout.

Lehigh Valley cut the lead to 2-1 with a run in the home half of the frame as Cam Perkins led off with a triple and scored on Taylor Featherston's RBI double. The Pigs had Featherston at third with nobody out in the inning, but were unable to push the run across after a lineout and a pair of pop outs ended the frame.

A pair of runs in the fourth opened up a 4-1 advantage for the Red Sox. Chris Dominguez plated a run with an RBI groundout and Sandy Leon knocked home a run with an RBI single.

Featherston's (2-3, 2B, HR, 2 RBI, R) solo shot in the home half of the fifth off of Pawtucket starter William Cuevas brought the Pigs within 4-2.

The PawSox tacked on another pair of runs in the sixth to make it a 6-2 game. Marrero plated a run with an RBI groundout and Ryan LaMarre reached via an infield single to score a run.

IronPigs starter Adam Morgan (0-1) gave up six runs (four earned) on nine hits to go along with two walks and five strikeouts in 5.2 IP.

In the bottom of the seventh, Perkins (3-4, 3B, 2 R) got aboard with a one-out single, took second on a force out and scored on Jackson's RBI single.

Cuevas (1-1) allowed three runs on six hits while walking one and fanning four over his 6.2 IP of work.

Making his IronPigs debut, RHP Gregory Infante (2.1 IP, H, 2 K) had a scoreless outing in relief for manager Dave Brundage's squad. LHP Bobby LaFromboise (1.0 IP) also tossed a shutout inning for the hosts.

The Pigs will begin a two-game set with the Rochester Red Wings on Saturday night. First pitch from Coca-Cola Park is set for 6:35 p.m. as RHP Reinier Roibal (0-0, 6.75) gets the spot start for Lehigh Valley against Red Wings RHP Jose Berrios (1-0, 1.80).
