Louisville Bats Lose on Jackie Robinson Day, 9-3

LOUISVILLE,Ky.- On Jackie Robinson Day, the Louisville Bats played on another beautiful night at Louisville Slugger Field. The Bats ( 2-4) lost their second game of the home season, falling to the Toledo Mud Hens (4-1), 9-3. The Mud Hens powered their way to a win with three multi run innings.

Bats' RHP Tim Adleman (0-0, 5.40) made his Triple-A debut. After he threw two scoreless innings, the Bats cranked it up in the home half of the second. Louisville scored three runs on the strength of four hits, highlighted by doubles from DH Jermaine Curtis and 2B Carlos Triunfel.

The Mud Hens countered in the third with runs scored by 2B Tommy Field and C Miguel Gonzalez. Two innings later, Gonzalez with a solo home run, his first of the year.

Aldeman left after five innings and he did not factor into the decision. He allowed three hits, three runs (all earned), one walk, and one home run. He also struck out one.

RHP Ryan Mattheus (1-1, 18.00) came on in relief and ended up taking the loss. He pitched one-third of an inning, allowing two hits, three runs (all earned), and one walk, striking out one. The Mud Hens sent eight batters to the plate in the top of the sixth inning, and they scored four runs to seize control of the game with a 7-3 lead.

Louisville could not solve LHP Josh Turley and the Mud Hens bullpen. Turley (1-0, 3.38) went five and one-third innings, allowing five hits and three runs (two earned), walking one and striking out six. The Bats managed just four base runners once Turley left with one out in the sixth (three walks and a hit).

Toledo put the game out of reach with a pair of runs in the eighth inning and took the 9-3 win.

The Bats will look to get back in the win column tomorrow night at Louisville Slugger Field, as LHP John Lamb (NR, 0.00) will make a rehab start for the Bats. Toledo will counter with RHP Lucas Harrell (NR, 0.00).
