Today's Game
Tonight, the Bisons host the Red Wings in the finale of a two-game series at Coca-Cola Field (6:05 p.m.). Buffalo opened their home 2016 schedule with yesterday's 2-1 win. The Herd will host Pawtucket for two this weekend before leaving on a seven-game roadtrip.
Last Game
LHP Scott Diamond allowed just one run over seven innings to lead the Bisons to a 2-1 win over Rochester. The southpaw struck out five and walked none. OF Junior Lake's 7th-inning RBI-double snapped a 1-1 tie and RHP David Aardsma earned his third save of the season.
vs. Rochester (1-0)
The Bisons will face the Red Wings 18 more times this season, including six more times this month. Buffalo travels to Frontier Field, April 22-24 and the Wings return to Western New York, April 26-28. The Herd is 93-64 all-time against Rochester at Coca-Cola Field (.592 pct.).
Wade LeBlanc
LHP Wade LeBlanc makes his Coca-Cola Field debut tonight in his second start with the Herd. LeBlanc allowed one run over five innings last Sunday to defeat Pawtucket. He gave up just four singles in the win. LeBlanc was 2-5 with a 4.23ERA in eight starts with the Seibu Lions of Japan's Pacific League last season.
David Aardsma
RHP David Aardsma is a perfect 3-for-3 in converting saves this season. The 34-year old veteran now has 145 career saves, including 69 at the Major League level with Seattle, 2009-2010. Aardsma has not allowed a hit in any of his outings and has issued just one walk.
Bobby Korecky
RHP Bobby Korecky has been added to the Bisons active roster. The righty is in his fourth season with the Herd and ranks 2nd in the team's modern era in both appearances (125) and saves (29) to RHP Fernando Cabrera (136/30). Korecky was tied for the team lead with seven saves last year while going 3-5 with a 3.72 ERA in 44 games.
Bisons Bits
No Bisons batter struck out in yesterday's 2-1 win...The Herd have not allowed more than four runs in any game this season, but have only scored more than three runs once themselves...OF Dalton Pompey has three runs scored and five hits in his first three games.
Jackie Robinson Day
April 15 is "Jackie Robinson Day' throughout baseball. The 2016 season is the 70th anniversary of Robinson's lone minor league season as he played 124 games for the Montreal Royals of the International League. The Royals finished in 1st place, 22 games ahead of the 5th-place Bisons, and Robinson hit .349 with 66 RBI and 40 stolen bases.
Blue Jays Update
Former Bisons' RHP Marcus Stroman allowed just three hits over eight innings as the Blue Jays (5-5) defeated the Yankees last night, 4-2. Stroman struck out three and walked two to improve to 2-0 on the year. 3B Josh Donaldson clubbed his fifth home run already this season to tie for the AL lead. Toronto is in Boston tonight to face the Red Sox (7:10 p.m.).
