Knights Celebrating Jackie Robinson Day Today

WHO: The Charlotte Knights Baseball Club.

WHAT: The Charlotte Knights will celebrate the legacy of Jackie Robinson at BB&T Ballpark tonight on what is "Jackie Robinson Day" around America's Favorite Pastime. Tonight's game will feature five former Negro League players on-hand to meet and greet fans and sign autographs. The five former players who will take part in tonight's Jackie Robinson Day event are Eddie "G.G." Burton, James "B.D." Bland, Bill Cathcart, Luther "Luke" Atkinson, and Carl "Satch" Forney.

Ray Banks, a Negro Leagues historian, will bring his customized historical display from Baltimore for all fans to enjoy at the game. It features photographs, baseball gear and other artifacts that help tell the story of the period before baseball became completely racially integrated at the Major League level.

WHEN: During tonight's game, which gets underway with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch, all players from both the Knights and Durham Bulls will wear #42 jerseys in honor of Jackie Robinson.
