Petes Select Slovakian Defenceman in CHL Import Draft

The Peterborough Petes announced today that General Manager David Reid has selected defenceman Peter Ceresnak (Sir-ez-nack) from Slovakia with the 4th overall selection in the 2011 CHL Import Draft this morning.

Ceresnak is a right shot defenceman who played last season for Trencin in the Slovakian Jr. league. Peter has twice represented Slovakia at the Under 18 Tournament (2010, 2011) and in 2011 at the World Junior Championship in Buffalo, New York. He is a physical stay at home defender with excellent puck skills, a strong skater with above average acceleration and is very tough to knock off the puck.

"Peter will fit very well into our defensive group, along with excellent skills Peter brings international experience which will allow him adjust to the OHL quicker than most first year players" says Petes General Manager David Reid.

Peter was recently selected in the 6th round, 172nd overall by the New York Rangers in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
