Oshawa, ON - Wednesday, June 29th, 2011 - The Oshawa Generals Head Coach and General Manager Chris DePiero announced this afternoon that the team has selected forward Sebastian Uvira from Germany with the 46th overall pick in the CHL Import Draft.

Uvira, 18, is a native of Freiburg, Germany split time last season with the EV Landshut Jr. U-18 Team where he registered 13 goals and 19 assists for 32 points in 29 games while also adding 102 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-1 forward helped his junior team win the DNL Championship by scoring 6 goals and 3 assists for 9 points in nine games.

He also spent time with the Landshut Cannibals in Germany's 2nd tier professional league where he scored 1 goal and 1 assist for 2 points while adding 12 penalty minutes in 23 games.

Uvira also represented Germany at the IIHF World Under-18 Hockey Championships where he scored 1 goal and 1 assists for 2 points in 6 tournament games.

"He is a big powerful players who forechecks hard and engages players in battles all over the ice," notes International Scouting Services in their report on Uvira. "He plays a strong two-way game and proved that he is the type of player you just don't want to match up against.

The Generals also hold the 106th overall selection but will choose to pass on the pick as they will hold onto the rights of last year's Import Draft selection Nicklas Jensen.
