Soo Greyhounds News Release

With their 2nd pick (34th overall) in the CHL Import Draft today, the Soo Greyhounds selected DAVID ELSNER from Landshut, Germany.

"David is a Nashville Predators draft pick. Personally, I have the utmost respect for the Predators scouting staff and the type of players that they value. When the Predators began discussing David with us in May it became clear that he would bring a facet to our team that we badly need if we are going to become the most difficult team in the league to play against" started Hounds GM Kyle Dubas.

Elsner was selected in the 7th Round (194th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft by the Predators.

"David has played versus men in the German Bundesliga professional league for the past two seasons. He has also won championships at the U18 level both in league play and at the International Level" continued Dubas. "He has been a point per game player against players his own age, but has been an elite agitator and power forward at the pro level.David played this past season with former Hounds captain Cody Thornton who states that David combines elite character with rage on the ice and is one of the hardest hitters he has ever played with."

The 19-year old forward stands 6'0" while weighing 190 lbs.

During the 2010-11 season Elser produced 7 goals and 5 assists during 40 regular season games split between Landshut Cannibals (Germany 2), ERC Ingosladt (DEL) and EV Landshut U18 (DNL).

In 12 International contests as part of the German U18, U19 and U20 squads he had a combined 7 goals and 4 assists.

"We are very excited to work with the Nashville Predators and help prepare David for his career with the Preds" concluded Dubas.

Elsner joins Yegor Malenkikh as the Hounds' selections in today's CHL Import Draft.
