Peterborough Petes News Release

The Peterborough Petes are proud to announce that their new Mascot has a name.

After sorting through hundreds of suggestions the committee came to the conclusion that the name ROGER was the perfect one. Named in memory of Roger Neilson this furry friend will be loved by all as Roger was in the hockey world. Roger was an avid dog lover himself and was often seen with his dog at the rink.

Roger Neilson was a caring, competitive, fun loving person who always had time for others. It was because of these qualities the Name Roger was chosen. There were several entries submitted and the final selection was made through a draw by Captain Jack Walchessen.

The winner of the name the mascot contest is Aaron Xuereb of Peterborough. Aaron and ROGER will be introduced at this Saturday's game against the Windsor Spitfires. Aaron wins a pair of season tickets for the 2011-12 season and the use of a private suite for himself and nine of his friends for this Saturday's game.
