
Locke and Trojanovic Named Academic Players of the Month

The Windsor Spitfires are proud to announce that the team's Peter Thomson of Sun Life Financial and Spitfires Academic Player of the Month for October is Eric Locke, with rookie Steven Trojanovic earning the November honour.
Peter Thomson and Sun Life Financial believe that education is the cornerstone of being a well rounded contributor to the community and are proud to sponsor the Spitfires Academic Players of the Month. Eric Locke and Steven Trojanovic are not only integral members of the Spitfires on the ice but also great representatives off the ice through their commitment to their school work. The life of an OHL player is a busy one and Peter Thomson congratulates each player for succeeding on and off the ice at such a high level.
Locke, a 17 year-old native of Toronto, Ontario is currently a grade 11 student at St. Anne's High School. He recorded an 87% average overall leading into October, with a 92% mark in math, 87% in English and 83% religion.
"Eric is an outstanding student and athlete. He has distinguished himself as a hard working and respectful young man, demonstrating a unique ability to combine athletics with academics. He has quickly established himself as a school leader. St. Anne's High School is proud to have Eric as one of its students," said Dennis Gignac, Academic Advisor for the Windsor Spitfires and teacher at St. Anne's High School.
Trojanovic, a 17 year-old native of Burlington, Ontario is also a grade 11 student at St. Anne's High School. He posted an 82% mark in all three of his classes which include economics, sociology and religion.
Dennis Gignac offered the following, "Steven is attending St. Anne's High School for the second year and has once again distinguished himself as an excellent student. He is considered by his teachers as a conscientious and motivated young man. He has a self directed attitude and has become an academic school leader."
Prior to the commencement of a future Spitfires home game, Peter Thomson of Sun Life Financial will be presenting both Eric and Steven with a $100 gift to each player for their outstanding achievement.
