
Majors Defenseman Brett Flemming Signs with Washington

Mississauga, ON - The Mississauga St. Michael's Majors are pleased to announce that the Washington Capitals have signed defenseman Brett Flemming to a three year entry level contract. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. The signing was announced this afternoon by Capitals Vice President and General Manager George McPhee. Flemming was drafted by Washington in the fifth round (145th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
Flemming, 19, is in his fourth season with the Majors. The 5'11", 184 pound defenseman started his OHL career in 2007, the team's first year in Mississauga. This season, Flemming has chipped in with 14 points in 25 games and has 41 penalty minutes to his credit as well. His most impressive stat category so far this season is plus/minus. His +25 rating heading into tonight's game is tied for tops in the Ontario Hockey League. Over the course of his career, Flemming has 7 goals and 69 assists for 76 points and is a +83.
