Kitchener Rangers News Release
Kitchener Rangers' forward Tobias Rieder has been named to the Team Germany roster set to compete at the 2011 IIHF World Junior Championships in Buffalo, New York.
Team Germany went undefeated and captured a gold medal in the B Division at the IIHF Tournament last year, allowing them a berth into the A Division in the 2011 tournament. Rieder finished the five-game tournament tied for second in scoring with four goals and two assists.
Rieder - the 17-year old native of Landshut, Germany - was selected by the Rangers in the first-round, 5th overall, in the 2010 CHL Import Draft. He has represented his country on several occasions at U-17, U-18, and U-20 international events.
"It's exciting to represent your country," said Rieder. "These are the top teams and the best players in the world, and we have the chance to play against them."
Rieder is eligible for the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, and was recently ranked 6th overall by the NHL Central Scouting Bureau.
