Portland Winterhawks News Release
The Portland Winterhawks cap off a perfect four-game home stand by throttling the Saskatoon Blades 8-0 at Veterans Memorial Coliseum. The Hawks extend their point streak to seven in-a-row after winning by their largest margin of victory this season.
NOTABLES:
Eight different Winterhawks recorded multiple points in the win and 11 total players found the stat sheet.
Mason Mannek had a career night registering his first four point game in the WHL.
Gabe Klassen and Jonas Brondberg each recorded their first multi-goal game in the WHL.
Jack O'Brien and Kishaun Gervais had their first two-point night with Portland.
It was a perfect home stretch for the Winterhawks who went 4-0-0-0 this week to help stay tied for first place in the division.
Joel Hofer recorded his second shutout of the season and sixth in his junior career. He leads all WHL goaltenders with 15 wins and a 1.87 goals-against-average.
A four goal first period by Portland was their best start to any game this year.
Portland allowed only four shots in the second period, that was the team's lowest shots against in any period this season.
Every Saskatoon Blades player had a negative on-ice rating.
Portland improves to 3-0-0-0 against the East Division.
Portland is 10-1-1-0 at home ice, which remains the best home ice point percentage in the WHL.
The Hawks head north to British Columbia to start a four-game road trip next weekend against Kamloops and Prince George.
