Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins News Release
GLENS FALLS, N.Y. - Alex Grant's goal at 1:19 of overtime lifted the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to a 3-2 win at Glens Falls Civic Center and a sweep of the four-game season series versus the Adirondack Phantoms
Though the Phantoms were able to kill off 1:02 of remaining power play time carrying over from regulation, the Penguins would be able to maintain possession in the offensive zone. Beau Bennett worked the puck up to the blueline where Grant blasted a slapshot past Adirondack goalie Brian Boucher for his fourth goal of the year and second game-winner.
Garrett Roe opened up the scoring for the Phantoms, forcing a turnover and ripping a high shot past Wilkes-Barre/Scranton goaltender Jeff Zatkoff at 5:25 of the second period.
On the Penguins first power play opportunity of the night, Jayson Megna evened things up with his fifth goal of the season. Joey Mormina lobbed a wrist shot on goal that clipped off of Megna's stick and into the net to tie the game at one with 10:54 remaining in the second.
Riley Holzapfel gave the Penguins a 2-1 lead 5:59 into the final frame, finishing off a three-on-two rush with a one-timer off of Brian Gibbons' second assist of the night.
Adirondack struck on the man-advantage with 6:44 left in the third as Shane Harper capped off a crisp passing play by tapping in the goal that made the score, 2-2.
Zatkoff picked up his 24th win of the season and third consecutive victory, stopping 27-of-29 shots for the Penguins. Adirondack's Boucher faced 25 shots and turned aside 22.
