
PawSox Lose Game Late Despite Great Effort by Stankiewicz

PAWTUCKET, R.I. - The Pawtucket Red Sox (48-62) fell to the Rochester Red Wings (56-55) by a score of 7-2 on Friday night at McCoy Stadium, despite an excellent performance by starter Teddy Stankiewicz.
The Red Wings struck first, as Nick Gordon hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Zander Wiel who doubled earlier in the inning.
Rochester would add another in the following inning on a 2-out solo shot by Tomas Telis. This was Telis' 7th homer of the season and his first since July 14th.
The PawSox mounted a comeback in the 6th, scoring two to tie the game at 2. Gorkys Hernandez drove in the first with a sac fly and Tzu-Wei Lin brought in the second with a single, driving in Cole Sturgeon.
The Red Wings busted the game open in the 8th. Wilin Rosario singled in the 3rd and 4th runs of the game to break the tie. Tomas Telis doubled one batter later to score Rosario. Rochester made it 7-2 on a Zander Wiel two-run homerun. Wiel's homer was his 19th of the season leads the Rochester roster. The 5 runs came off reliever Domingo Tapia, who took his 3rd loss of the season.
Teddy Stankiewicz got the start for Pawtucket, tossing 7 innings, allowing 6 hits and 2 runs on the night. He struck out 8, his season high this year.
The PawSox will play the second game of this three-game homestand against the Rochester Red Wings, starting tomorrow at 6:15 p.m.
Radio coverage on WHJJ (920 AM and 104.7 FM) and throughout the PawSox Radio Network begins with the pre-game show at 5:45 p.m.
Tomorrow is the final Free Youth Clinic of the season, which will take place from 2:00 - 3:15 p.m. Super Heroes/Avengers-themed fireworks will follow. Sunday, August 4th is the PawSox's 22nd Annual FanFest, Ladies Day, and another Family Funday, which will include pre-game catch on the field and post-game run the bases.
