Toledo Mud Hens News Release
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Toledo Mud Hens were limited to one run in Friday's series opening loss to the Louisville Bats.
Having now lost four of their last five games, the Mud Hens recorded five hits to tie their season-low at Louisville Slugger Field this season.
They remain a game ahead of the Bats for third place in the International Legaue West Division standings.
Toledo starter Edwin Jackson (0-2, 5.40 ERA) got his second start since signing a minor-league deal with Detroit back in July.
The 17-year veteran lasted five innings, allowing two runs on six hits, walking two and striking out one on 78 pitches.
Jackson's two runs surrendered came off a fly ball over the left field wall in the second inning by Chadwick Tromp.
Jacob Robson would put the Mud Hens on the board in the sixth inning with a bloop single that scored Ronny Rodriguez.
Now third on the team in RBIs (43) behind Mikie Mahtook (45) and Willi Castro (44), Robson is batting 10-for-33 (.303) with three doubles and four RBIs in his last eight games.
Making his return to Toledo was Victor Alcantara, who relieved Jackson in the sixth to begin his MLB rehab assignment, one-of-three players on the Mud Hens' roster currently on rehab.
Alcantara landed on the 10-day injured list on July 24 with a right middle finger contusion. In 43 appearances with Detroit this season, the 26-year-old native of the Dominican Republic has compiled a 5.32 ERA and 1.46 WHIP over 39 innings.
He'd face five hitters and give up an RBI single to Alex Blandino for the 3-1 deficit.
Jackson Stephens (6-4, 5.53 ERA) picked up the win in his 79th-career appearance with the Bats after going two innings and allowing the lone run to Robson.
What's Next:
Tim Adleman (4-4, 3.46 ERA) is probable to start Saturday in the second of a three-game series against the Bats.
Opening pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. (EST).
Live coverage is available on MiLB.TV and Fox Sports 1230 WCWA-AM.
