Week in Review

Saturday, December 5th Brandon Wheat Kings 6 Regina Pats 4

The week off the Pats had after a lengthy road trip lasted an extra 2 periods. The Brandon Wheat Kings jumped out to a 6-0 lead half way through the second period and cruised to a 6-4 win over the blue and white. Jordan Eberle lead the way for the Pats with 2 shorthanded goals and added a regular strength goal for the hat trick, Hampus Gustafsson picked up the other Pats goal.

Sunday, December 6th Regina Pats 4 Prince Albert Raiders 1

The Pats continue their dominance against the Raiders with their 3rd win in 5 games (just on regulation loss) by taking out Prince Alert 4-1 on Sunday night. Jordan Weal and Jordan Eberle picked up a pair of goals, while Colten Teubert was fantastic as well with a trio of assists. Damien Ketlo kicked away 25 of 26 Raider shots for his 11th win of the season.

Defensive Scoring:

3 of the Pats top ten scorers man the Pats blue line with Brandon Davidson and Colten Teubert leading the way with 23 points, while Cody Carlson has 17 points.

16's to the World U-17's:

A pair of 16 year old defencemen will be heading off to the World U-17 Hockey Challenge in Timmins, Ontario over the holiday season. Myles Bell will play for Team Pacific (BC, AB) and Tyler Borstmayer will take to the ice for Team West (SK, MB). Last season Dominick Favreau played for team West, while Jordan Weal played for team Pacific.

NHL Central Scouting:

NHL Central Scouting Bureau (CSB) announced their fall rankings for the CHL, and there were 2 Regina Pats in the top 25 in the WHL. Jordan Weal was the 10th ranked skater, while defenceman, Brandon Davidson was the 22nd ranked skater.

Off to World Jr. Training Camp:

For the second straight year, Jordan Eberle and Colten Teubert have been named to Canada's World Junior training camp roster. Both played on Canada's gold medal winning team last year in Ottawa.

A History of Excellence:

With Colten Teubert and Jordan Eberle getting a shot at making the Canadian National Junior Team for a second time, it continues the Regina Pats continuing contributions to Hockey Canada and the World Junior team. More Pats have played for team Canada than any other team in the CHL:

A Solid November:

After starting the first 6 weeks of the season 6-9-2-0, the Pats broke out in November with a stellar 9-4-1-0 record including picking up 5 wins in 6 home starts.

Eberle topping the charts: Jordan Eberle is currently the Pats active leader in goals with 133 for his Pat career. This puts him into the top 20 all time and pushes Brian Varga (78-81) and is 1 back of Dirk Graham (75-79) 1 away from climbing into the top ten. Eberle's 261 points pushes him past Mike Wanchuk (71-74) and Karry Beitte (90-94) and is 4 points behind Taylor Hall (81-84).

*Jordan Weal 19 points in his last 10 games (5g 14a)

*Jordan Eberle 22 points in his last 8 games (12g 10a) and has 8 goals in his last 4 games.

Milestones:

*Jordan Eberle is the active Pat career leader in points with 261. He is also the current active Pat career leader in goals (133), assists (128), points (257), game winning goals (27), power play goals (53) and shorthanded markers (13).

*Brett Leffler is 1 goal away from 70 in his WHL career and is now 10th on the all-time games played list with the Regina Pats with 269, passing Len Nielsen, and is 4 back of Logan Pyett for 8th all-time.

*Colten Teubert is 6 points away from 100 for his WHL career.

Around the office:

Sportsman's Dinner is around the corner:

It's not until January 28th, but the Regina Pats Sportsman's Dinner is back this season, in conjunction with another Pats/Warriors alumni weekend. The dinner is on Thursday, January 28th, with tickets available at the Pats office.

Goals for Kids:

With the Pats scoring 8 times this week gives them a season total of 124; the Prairie Mobile Communications "goals for kids" fund is now up to $1860. $15 from every goal scored will be donated to the Ranch Ehrlo Outdoor Hockey League, courtesy of Prairie Mobile Communications.

It's the semi-finals and finals of the Home Depot "Race Around the World" contest with a World Junior Hockey Championship Regina package going to the winner.

This Week:

The blue and white will play at home on Wednesday, and then back to back road games on Friday and Saturday

-Wednesday night the defending WHL champions, Kelowna Rockets, make their first appearance in Regina since December of 2007.

-Friday, the Pats begin a long Central Division trek in Medicine Hat; the Pats were able to knock off the Tigers in Regina on November 4th

-Saturday night will see the Pats take on Linden Rowat and the Lethbridge Hurricanes. The Pats won their first meeting at the Brandt Centre on October 17th.
