Kootenay Ice News Release
Cranbrook, BC --Â Jeff Chynoweth, General Manager of the Kootenay ICE Hockey Club, today announced the club has traded 18 year old defenseman Cason Machacek (pronounced ma-ha-chuck) to the Lethbridge Hurricanes in exchange for a 4th round pick in the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft.
"With nine defensemen on our roster we had to make a move sooner rather than later. This transaction allows Cason the opportunity to play at home and will give the Hurricanes some additional depth on defense. We would like to thank Cason for his time with the ICE and wish him all the best with Lethbridge," commented Chynoweth.
As a result of today's transaction, the ICE are now carrying 23 players including two goaltenders, eight defensemen and 13 forwards.
