Portland Winterhawks News Release
Everyone wants their flights to have smooth landings, and on December 19, those smooth landings can earn one lucky Winterhawks fan $10,000.
The Winterhawks are hosting the Great Airplane Toss at their game against the Tri-City Americans on Saturday, December 19 at the Rose Garden. Fans will be able to purchase paper airplanes for $1 apiece, and in the second intermission they'll throw their planes at targets on the ice, with the planes landing closest to, or on the targets, winning prizes.
The biggest prize is a $10,000 payout for the first fan whose precision throw lands their plane on that target. In addition, other prizes will include Winterhawks season tickets, a 40-inch LCD TV from Comcast, season passes to Mt. Hood Skibowl, round trip airfare to Seattle, tires from Tire Factory and much more.
It's also lift ticket night, and all fans in attendance will receive a free lift ticket to Mt. Hood Skibowl.
The night will benefit the Portland Schools Foundation, who will receive the proceeds from the sale of the paper airplanes. In addition, if the game sells out, the Portland Schools Foundation will receive $5,000, so every person through the doors that night helps us reach our goal.
Fans can catch a great game and help a great cause by taking advantage of the Holiday Gift Pack deal: 10 tickets and 10 Hawk Eyes hats beginning at just $12 per person.
"With a $10,000 grand prize at stake the Great Airplane Toss will be a great event for the whole family," said Portland Winterhawks President Doug Piper. "Not only will it be a fun night with the airplane toss and a free lift ticket for everyone through the doors, but Tri-City is currently just three points ahead of us for first place in the U.S. Division, so it will be an intense, exciting game."
The best sports entertainment value in the northwest are Winterhawks 10+10 Packs: 10 tickets and 10 Hawk Eyes hats starting at just $12 per person. Contact the Winterhawks at 503-236-HAWK (4295) or seats@winterhawks.com for more information.
