Great Lakes Loons News Release

It's Sandberg vs. Parrish when Baseball legends Ryne Sandberg and Lance Parrish meet at Dow Diamond for the only time this season during the Loons' home stand against the Peoria Chiefs April 17-20. Great seats are still available for every game of the series, in what is promising to be beautiful spring weather.

The series is the first match-up between Chief's Manager Ryne Sandberg and Loons' Manager Parrish. Sandberg is a former Chicago Cubs second baseman and is recognized as one of the best of all time. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2005 and joined the Chiefs, a Minor League affiliate of the Cubs, for the 2007 season. The Chiefs will face Loons' starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw, the 19-year old pitching prodigy who is rated by Baseball Prospectus as the best prospect in the entire Los Angeles Dodgers organization.

The Loons are featuring outstanding promotions for all four games. In game one Tuesday, it's the Loons' Sling Bag Giveaway where the first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive this one-of-a-kind tote. On Wednesday night, students from local colleges and universities are encouraged to attend the Loons first-ever College Night. The night will feature a live band during pre-game and students will have the chance to compete in College Olympics throughout the game. The winner will be crowned Loons College Olympic Champion and will receive a free Loons' prize pack.

On Thursday, the Loons give you a chance to cut off your tie and break out of the office doldrums for Office Night. Friday night looks to be a hot ticket as Dow Diamond's first piece of memorabilia is given away. The first 3,500 fans through the gates will receive a free Inaugural Game Poster courtesy of FP Horak. The poster will commemorate the inaugural game at Dow Diamond, so come early and get your piece of Loons history.

Fans are encouraged to get their tickets online or at the game. Individual tickets are $6 for lawn seats and $8.50 for reserved seats. The Great Lakes Loons are a single-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers and members of the Midwest League.
