Cougars' Road Woes Continue

Burlington, IA - The Kane County Cougars' defense made three first-inning errors Monday night, and the offense mustered just one hit in a 7-0 loss to the Burlington Bees in front of 952 fans at Community Field. Jermaine Mitchell's second-inning single represented the lone hit of the night for the Cougars, who scored one run and posted six hits while getting swept in the three-game series.

Cougars starter John Herrera allowed four runs -- three earned -- in the first inning and two more in the third for an early 6-0 deficit. Herrera (0-1) took the loss, lasting four innings, giving up six runs -- five earned -- on nine hits, walking one and striking out three. Jason Fernandez walked four and allowed one run in 2 2/3 innings to account for the 7-0 final. Ron Madej struck out three of the four batters faced to give the Cougars a bright spot.

Burlington's starter Harold Mozingo (1-1) logged six innings to get the victory, Yovany Damico recorded his first save.

Kane County (1-8) continues its nine-game road trip to Lansing (6-1) for a four-game series that begins Tuesday night at 5:05 CDT. Scott Deal (0-0, 3.38) will face the Lugnuts' Kyle Ginley (0-0, 0.00).
