
Chiefs Snap Five Game Losing Streak, Beat Swing

Peoria, IL- The Peoria Chiefs concluded a four game home stand by snapping a five game losing streak with a 3-1 win over visiting Quad Cities. The win moves Peoria to 4-5 on the season and earned their first win of the season at O'Brien Field.
The Chiefs struck first off of Swing starter PJ Walters in the third inning when DJ Lewis led off with a single. Dylan Johnston's sacrifice bunt attempt turned then into a base hit and both runners moved up on a passed ball. Matt Camp worked a walk after falling behind in the count to load the bases. Andrew Lopez drove in his fourth run of the year on a sacrifice fly to put the Chiefs up 1-0.
Peoria struck again when Wellington Castillo led off the fourth inning with a single followed by Yusuf Carter's triple to the gap in right center field to make the score 2-0 in favor of the Chiefs. Walters worked out of the inning without allowing Carter to score from third.
The Swing got on the board in the fifth when Christian Lopez walked to start the inning and came around to score on an RBI single by Isa Garcia to cut the lead in half at 2-1.
Lopez singled in an insurance run in the eighth inning that scored Dylan Johnston who reached on an earlier single to make the score 3-1.
Chiefs starter Al Alburquerque worked the first five innings allowing just one run on four hits before being relieved by Marco Carrillo. The bullpen combination of Carrillo and Alex Maestri allowed just one hit over four innings of work and did not allow a run. Maestri picked up his second save of the season with two innings of scoreless work.

Andrew Lopez (LF)- Andrew drove in two of the three Chiefs runs while going 1-for-2 on the game.
Notes... The Chiefs set out on a six game road trip beginning Monday night against the newest member of the Midwest League, the Great Lakes Loons...The Chiefs return home on Monday, April 23 for another Mountain Dew Half Price Monday to take on Kane County...The 75 degree temperature was the warmest start of the season for a Chiefs game...The Chiefs will send RHP Billy Muldowney (1-1 4.09 ERA) to the hill against Great Lakes who will send RHP Josh Wall (0-1, 9.82 ERA)...The game begins at 7:00 PM Eastern Time and can be heard live beginning with the pre-game show at 5:45 PM local time on WOAM 1350 or online at www.peoriachiefs.com
