BELOIT - The Beloit Sky Carp's run of outstanding mound work continued on a blustery afternoon at ABC Supply Stadium in a 7-1 victory over Cedar Rapids.
The win, the Sky Carp's fifth in a row, also featured a terrific performance by the first-place team's offense.
Luis Palacios was simply outstanding on the mound, going seven scoreless innings while allowing just three hits. He didn't walk a batter and struck out six, and was a significant reason why the game was played in just 1:49.
The game was scoreless until the fourth inning, when a bases-loaded walk and a three-run double by Bennett Hostelter broke the contest open.
The Sky Carp removed any doubt as to the game's outcome with three runs in the following inning, highlighted by a two-run double by Ynmanol Marinez.
Beloit will look for the ever-elusive series sweep on Sunday when the two teams play at 1:05 p.m.
The Beloit Sky Carp are the High-A Affiliate of the Miami Marlins and play their games at ABC Supply Stadium -- the heart of the Riverbend District.
