Summary
The Akron RubberDucks (7-9) pitching staff was terrific in both games of today's doubleheader, not allowing a single run over 15 innings of work, sweeping the Bowie Baysox (3-13) with a 1-0 win in Game 1 and 2-0 win in Game 2 on Saturday afternoon at Canal Park.
Turning Point
The RubberDucks and Baysox went to extra innings in the first game, where the RubberDucks snapped the scoreless tie with a bases-loaded, walk-off line drive single by Ka'ai Tom. In the second game, the RubberDucks went up 1-0 on Li-Jen Chu's second-inning home run and Wilson Garcia's bases-loaded walk in the sixth doubled their lead to 2-0.
Mound Presence
The Akron RubberDucks pitching staff was terrific in both games of today's doubleheader, not allowing a single run over 15 innings of work. Zach Plesac started the first game and struck out five batters in five innings, surrendering only four hits. In game two, Tanner Tully gave the RubberDucks six strong innings, only giving up four hits and striking out six batters. James Karinchak came in to close out the game in the seventh inning and retired the Baysox in order.
Duck Tales
The RubberDucks relied on great outings from their starting pitchers and timely hitting to win both games Saturday. Ka'ai Tom's walk off single in game one and Li-Jen Chu's solo homerun in game two were the offensive highlights that gave the RubberDucks the lead and was enough for Akron's pitching.
