Tucson Padres News Release

The Tucson Padres pitched their third shutout of 2012 on Friday, beating Sacramento at Raley Field, 6-0. Matt Palmer pitched six shutout innings and only allowed two hits in the win. Brad Boxberger, Cory Burns and Erik Hamren tossed a scoreless inning each out of the Tucson bullpen, which now has nine consecutive appearances without allowing a run.

Sacramento starter Brad Peacock was perfect through four innings, striking out seven batters in that span. Matt Clark led off the fifth with a long home run over the bullpen in right field, his third consecutive game with a homer. Rocky Gale hit a two-run double later in the inning. Jedd Gyorko hit a ball over the left field wall in the sixth, his 16th Triple-A home run of 2012. The Padres scored two insurance runs in the ninth when Sacramento reliever Pedro Figueroa threw a ball down the right field line trying to nab Andy Parrino at first base.

The Padres have now won three of the five games at Raley Field this season. Gyorko ended up 3-for-5, falling a triple shy of the cycle.
