Reno Aces News Release
TUCSON, Ariz.-Charles Brewer registered a quality start and two Aces relievers followed suit Thursday night, as Reno clipped the Tucson Padres 4-3 in the series finale at Kino Stadium.
The win seals Reno's second-straight series victory and 13th overall this season. The Aces now are 6-2 in the season's unofficial second half.
Tucson took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning, but the Padres wouldn't score again until the seventh. In between, Reno pushed across a run in the fourth, two in the fifth and one more in the sixth to take a lead it wouldn't relinquish. Tucson cut the deficit to one on an unearned run in the ninth, but it would get no closer.
Brewer (5-6) earned the victory, scattering two runs on seven hits over 6.2 innings of work. Sam Demel came on and stranded a pair of inherited runners in the seventh before working a scoreless eighth. Jensen Lewis entered in the ninth and collected his fourth save.
The loss fell to Padres starter Jorge Reyes (6-9), who surrendered four runs on nine hits through six frames.
At the dish for Reno, all nine Aces starters recorded a hit. Taylor Harbin singled twice, scored and drove in a run.
The Aces now head to Cashman Field to resume the Silver State Diamond Challenge against the Las Vegas 51s. In Friday's opener, RHP Barry Enright (8-6, 6.08 ERA) gets the nod for Reno, while RHP Jesse Chavez (8-2, 3.68 ERA) counters for Las Vegas. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. PT, and the action can be heard live on Fox Sports 630 AM or by visiting RenoAces.com.
Reno will return home on Tuesday, July 24. Tickets are on-sale now at RenoAces.com, by calling (775) 334-7000 or by visiting the Aces Ballpark Ticket Office.
