PROVIDENCE, RI - The Providence Bruins defeated the Norfolk Admirals in a shutout win tonight at the Dunkin' Donuts Center at the 5th annual Pink in the Rink night.

Providence went ahead early on at 9:34, using the power play to their advantage. Jordan Caron came from behind the net and slipped the puck past Admirals goaltender Jason LaBarbera. The goal, assisted by Ben Youds and Tommy Cross, put the P-Bruins up 1-0 and gave them the lead they would maintain all night.

Providence kept the momentum alive in the second period. At 5:44, Brian Ferlin capitalized on assists from Ryan Spooner and Craig Cunningham and notched the first professional goal of his career. In addition to his first pro goal, Ferlin also earned the Third Star of the Game. But scoring for the second period didn't end there. Matt Lindblad netted a shorthanded goal, assisted by Justin Florek and Ben Youds. Lindblad's goal, his first of the season, gave the P-Bruins a 3-0 lead. While Norfolk put in a solid effort, getting the shot advantage over Providence in the second period 13-10, Jeremy Smith remained strong in goal.

Smith and the rest of the P-Bruins continued to bring the intensity in the third. Just 4:27 into the third period, Jordan Caron lit the lamp once again. Caron's second goal of the night was assisted by Chris Breen and Alexander Khokhlachev and helped him earn the Second Star of the Game. Jeremy Smith was the First Star of the Game for Providence tonight. Smith had an outstanding performance in goal, stopping all 39 shots by Norfolk. The final score was 4-0.
