Syracuse, N.Y. - Nikita Nesterov scored a power-play goal 5:08 into overtime to lift the Syracuse Crunch (3-1-1-0) over the Worcester Sharks (3-1-1-0) 3-2 tonight at the DCU Center.
In his third start of the season netminder Kristers Gudlevskis made 26 saves on 28 shots for his second win of the year (2-1-0-0).
The Sharks jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a power-play goal from Konrad Abeltshauser 7:54 into the first period. With Dylan Blujus serving a tripping minor, Abeltshauser backhanded the puck past Gudlevskis with assists from Freddie Hamilton and Evan Trupp.
Syracuse responded just 33 seconds later when Dalton Smith knocked the rebound of a Jerome Samson shot past Sharks netminder Troy Grosenick. The goal was Smith's first of the season.
