Albany Devils Extend Point Streak with Another Win

HARTFORD, CT - The Albany Devils continued their record-breaking start with a 7-3 victory against the Hartford Wolf Pack Friday at XL Center. The Devils improved to 4-0-0-1, earning nine-out-of-ten points to start the season. Hartford, which was tied with Albany for the best record in the Eastern Conference heading into the game, moved to 3-1-1-0.

Keith Kinkaid earned his 65th career victory, tying Jeff Frazee's franchise record established between 2007-13. Coming off his 10th career shutout Tuesday, Kinkaid made 27 saves for his third win of the season.

Offensively, Ben Thomson netted his first two career goals and Mike Sislo registered two tallies for the second straight game. Joe Whitney and Scott Timmins both had a goal and an assist, while Dan Kelly had a pair of helpers. Paul Thompson also scored.

Hartford received scoring from Marek Hrivik, Chris Bourque and J.T. Miller. In goal, Jason Missiaen allowed six goals on 17 shots and was replaced at 10:10 of the third period. Mackenzie Skapski made three stops in relief.

The teams exchanged goals in the first period. Kelly had a pair of point shots redirected first by Thomson at 4:14 and by Thompson at 11:17 to give Albany a 2-1 advantage.

After Bourque evened the game at 12:15 of the first, Whitney netted a power-play goal at 11:01 of the second to make it 3-2.

In the third, the Devils broke the game wide open. Thomson and Timmins scored back-to-back at 2:50 and 7:05. Miller cut into Albany's lead at 8:39, but Sislo scored shorthanded at 10:10.

He capped the scoring with an empty netter at 19:28.

The Devils were outshot 30-27shot advantage and went 1-5 on the power play and 6-7 on the penalty kill.

Dan Kelly was originally credited with the Devils first two goals, but upon further review the goals were changed to Ben Thomson and Paul Thomspon ... Thompson netted his league-leading seventh goal ... Kelly and Raman Hrabarenka were both a +4 ... Scott Timmins, who began last season with a nine-game point streak, has points (2g-4a) in all five games so far this year ... Joe Whitney registered his first goal of the season. He has seven points (1g-6a) in five outings ... Mike Sislo has four goals in the last two games ... Ben Johnson, who appeared in five games on an ATO at the end of last year, made his season debut ... David Wohlberg also made his season debut ... Darcy Zajac served a one-game suspension for his instigating penalty within the final minutes of Tuesday's third period ... Albany has at least one power-play goal in four of five games ... The Devils have outscored opponents 23-11.
