Lehigh Valley Phantoms News Release
Lehigh Valley, PA - The Philadelphia Flyers, parent club of the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, have recalled from his loan defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere. Gostisbehere, 21, has tallied two assists in three games with the Phantoms this year and is in the midst of his first professional season.
A native of Margate, Florida, Gostisbehere spent the last three seasons at Union College where he recorded 22 goals and 82 points in 119 games with the Dutchmen. Gostisbehere was a key cog in Union's run to the 2014 NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Championship where he was named NCAA Frozen Four Most Outstanding Player after a goal, two assists and a plus-seven rating in the team's 7-4 victory over the University of Minnesota in the title game.
The 5'11", 170-pound defender was originally a third-round selection (78th overall) by the Flyers in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. Gostisbehere is slated to make his NHL debut tomorrow when Philadelphia hosts the Detroit Red Wings.
